Testimonial in the PIC Refugees
Instra Course
My name is Sidi Traore.
I come from Mauritania.
I’m 33 years old. I arrived in France in 2018.
I think that when you arrive in a foreign country, you have to learn your language to integrate better.
My mother tongue is SONINKE. In Mauritania, I didn’t have the chance to go to school, so when I arrived in France, I couldn’t read or write. I wanted to do a literacy course at the CIEL in Strasbourg to find a job more easily, read my mail, write text messages, etc. This training course has helped me a lot in my daily life. Now I understand simple messages and posters. For example, I can read safety instructions, the opening hours of administrations or shops. I know how to get around by tram in the city.
I have also made a lot of progress in speaking. I’m more comfortable talking to people.
The teachers have also taught me the rules applicable to behaviour in France, French customs, and so on.
I’m very happy to have started this training course. I now have more self-confidence. I’ve also found a job in logistics.
