The French for Tourism, Hospitality and Catering Diploma evaluates the level reached in written comprehension and expression as well as oral comprehension and expression through the accomplishment of professional tasks: reservations, advising clients, guided tours.
Who is it aimed at ?
This diploma responds to the need for training and certification in professional French of non-French-speaking staff in restaurants, hotels, and travel agencies. This to reach a French-speaking clientele or to develop in a French-speaking market.
This diploma is intended for professionals in the hotel, tourism and catering industries whose mission is to welcome customers. For example, receptionists, stopover agents, travel advisors, tour operators, tour guides, entertainers, waiters, and head waiters.
What to expect on the exam day?
Two examinations, a computer-based examination followed by an oral interview.
They are carried out as follows:
- Understanding and processing information (between 45 min and 2h depending on the level)
- Processing written information
- Processing oral information
- Written comprehension
- Oral interaction (between 5 and 15 min depending on the level and including preparation time)
- Two role-play activities
Examples of activities and topics covered:
Activities: Take an order, greet a customer, respond to customer comments on a forum, present a tour plan, write the promotional text of a tourist offer, explain a map and advise a customer.
Topics: Gastronomy, Tourism, Hotels and Travel
Validity period: the certificate has a lifetime validity
Please notice :The Professional French Certificates are also recognized by the French government for residence permit or citizenship applications.
Prerequisites :
- Since the Certificate is offered for levels A2, B1 and B2, a minimum level of French A2 is required.
How to prepare yourself for the exam?

Option 1: Face-to-face group preparation
15 hours of face-to-face group preparation (by level), including practice tests for the DFP, mock exams, and professional communication exercises
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 1:30pm to 4:30 pm

Option 2: Face-to-face individual preparation
15 hours of face-to-face individual preparation with a teacher, including practice for the targeted Professional French Certifcate, mock exams, and communication exercices on a professional setting
Schedule: to be agreed upon with the student and the teacher

15 hours of individual online preparation classes with a teacher including practice for the targeted Professional French Certificate, mock exams, and communication exercices on a professional setting
Schedule: to be agreed upon with the student and the teacher

Results
Four to six weeks after the exam day.
